Home of Brown's Hounds
Click Our Bluetick hounds are born and bred at our kennels in the Bitterroot Mountain region of Idaho. We have a well thought out breeding program that produces high quality Bluetick hounds that we are extremely proud of. Our focus has always been about intelligence, stamina, conformation and heart...but most of all...the desire to hunt.
These hounds are hunted on mountain lion, bear and bobcat in some of the most rugged, wild country in the world. They have to be tough...but they are also amazing pets due to their remarkable intelligence. Because our main priority has always been about the hunt, we usually have only one litter a year for continuing the line and hunting...then we sell the rest. Our line of Bluetick hounds are predominately from Vaughn, Arkie and Cameron Bluetick bloodlines. |
Bitterroot Flower
The Bitterroot Mountain Range runs north to south forming the divide
between Idaho and Montana. The roots from this unique plant were
consumed by tribes such as the Shoshone and the Flathead.
It is recorded that Meriwether Lewis ate Bitterroot in 1805 during the
Lewis and Clark Expedition and brought it back as one of his specimens.
The flower itself was eventually selected as the Montana state flower.
